The Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives is governed by a Board of Directors. The major duties of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives are:
Determine the Mission and Purpose of the corporation/organization;
Select, appoint and support a chief executive to whom responsibility for the administration of the organization is delegated;
Ensure effective organizational planning;
Determine and monitor the programs and services of the corporation/organization;
Provide continuity for the organization;
Govern the organization by broad policies and objectives, formulated and agreed upon by the chief executive;
Acquire sufficient resources for the operations of the organization;
Manage resources effectively;
Enhance the public image of the corporation/organization;
Account to the public for the products and services of the organization and expenditures; and
Perform Board self-assessment.
Board of Directors
C. Neal ("Buddy") Canup, MD,Chairman, Board of Directors, Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives
Dr. Canup has served as a physician for many years in the Calhoun County area. Dr. Canup obtained an Associate of Arts from Truiett McConnell, a Bachelor of Science from North Georgia College and a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Canup serves as the Medical Director for St. Michael's Clinic, and the Medical Director for Anniston Family Practice and Residency Program, PC. He serves on the Board of Directors for Blue Cross-Blue Shield of Alabama, the Board of Directors for Alabama Child Caring Foundation and has served as Chairman for the Judicial Committee, Medical Association of the State of Alabama. He currently serves as Chairman, Institutional Review Board (IRB), Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and Chairman, Ethics Committee, Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Talmage is one of four founding NACCI board members. Dr. Talmage is a native of Anniston, Alabama and received a Bachelor of Arts from Jacksonville State University, a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts from the University of Florida and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Florida. He currently is a Professor with the Northeast Alabama Community College in DeKalb County. Dr. Talmage has served as the director of various community assessment initiatives, including An Analysis of Fair Housing Choice in Jacksonville, Florida. He also served as the Senior Faculty Research Associate for the Race-relations Study of Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Talmage is a member of the Zoning Board in Springville, Alabama and a member of the Board of Directors for Friends of Rural Alabama.

Mr. Campbell is an attorney with Campbell and Hopkins and resides in one of our target counties. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University and a Bachelor of Laws from Emory University School of Law. Mr. Campbell:

Charity M. Richey-Bentley, BS, MPH, President and CEO,Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives, Member, Board of Directors, Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives
Ms. Richey-Bentley is one of four founding NACCI board members. As President and CEO, Ms. Richey-Bentley is a voting, ex-officio member of the NACCI's Board of Directors.
Ms. Richey-Bentley obtained a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science and Mathematics (Biology) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Ms. Richey-Bentley is currently:

Mr. Robison is a resident of one of NACCI's target counties. He received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master of Engineering from the University of Florida. He currently serves as the Director of Calhoun County Community Corrections. Mr. Robison is:

Ms. Milam is a resident of one of NACCI's target counties. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/English from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama. She obtained a Master of Science in Counseling from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, Alabama. Ms. Milam owns Hope Holistic Counseling and Wellness, LLC, serving all ages in St. Clair, Etowah and Jefferson Counties. She currently serves as an Outpatient Therapist with the JBS Mental Health Authority. Ms. Milam is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a National Certified Counselor and a N.E.T. Practitioner. Ms. Milam is a member of:

David L. Zeigler, Member, Board of Directors, Northeast Alabama Center for Community Initiatives
Mr. Zeigler is a resident of one of NACCI's target counties. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from North Georgia College and a Master of Public Administration from Jacksonville State University. Mr. Zeigler graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate and entered the Military Police Corps at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Currently, Mr. Zeigler serves as Director of the Office of JSU McClellan Center at Jacksonville State University and he teaches Diversity Education. Mr. Zeigler has served on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Calhoun County, Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP), Family Services Center of Calhoun County, Juneteenth Heritage Festival, and BeLatino. Mr. Zeigler's awards include:

Mr. Dilgard is a Licensed Financial Specialist with Wachovia Bank / Wachovia Securities / Wachovia Insurance, Anniston, Alabama. He resides in one of our target counties. He attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tenessee where he was a Presidential Scholar. Mr. Dilgard:
